Bloody Lovely Audrey"If Nirvana, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Queens of the Stone Age had a baby…and drank heavily during the pregnancy" is the answer Andy, bass player of Bloody Lovely Audrey gives when asked to describe his band's sound. Bloody Lovely Audrey were formed out of a mutual desire to play music that rocks, unabashed and unashamedly. All four members met whilst studying the Theatre/Media course at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst and share a love for onstage balls-to-the-wall rock performances. Rob (guitar) Andy (bass) and Seb (drums) all played together previously in a local folk/funk band but had always secretly wanted to play something harder, heavier and faster. Step in Sinead (vocals) armed with a ferocious set of lungs and a shared love of sex, booze and rock, the lineup was complete. Sick to death of the 'indie scene' they decided to take rock music back to its most basic form: Heavy riffs, pounding bass lines and tribal beats offset by the attitude and seduction of Sinead’s alluring vocal style. After a few weeks of toying with the idea of having a jam together they finally did without even knowing what the future would hold. The answer came in the form of 'House of Horrors' a song that would later peak at No. 4 on the Triple J Unearthed Overall Charts. Enthusiasm to spare and a punishing work ethic saw the independent release of their debut EP 'Animal' in July 2010. A snapshot of a band loving their job, with the title track 'Animal' staking out two spots in the Triple J Unearthed Top 10 for four weeks running and stealing a No.1 spot on the Rock charts. This in turn has led the band to win a Triple J competition with Indent to support noted Aussie hip hop act Urthboy on his 2010 regional tour, as well as hitting the festival circuit playing alongside such bands as You Am I, Birds of Tokyo and Miami Horror. They are a band that doesn’t hold back live, pouring every ounce of energy they can muster, combining rock and roll antics and onstage theatrics into their performance. It's a whirling dance of sweat drenched passion. And they love it. Keep your eyes and ears open for the rock and roll sex train that is Bloody Lovely Audrey!
